Tornado is junk and throttle body spacer is for engines with carbs, not EFI. Intake, exhaust, tuner, and less on the throttle always helps.

The most imprtant thing to adjust is tire pressure, its FREE.. Then adjust driving haibts again its FREE.. The most cost effective things to do dont cost you anything but little time and effort. Then read and ask questions here, thats also a good idea. You will get flammed for asking a retarded question, so think before you ask "does this make sense?".. But if all else fails asking a retarded question gives us something to talk about, and laugh usually. If you really want to spend money look at tuners or programmers. But remember it take a long time to get even on what you spend for a one, as it will typically get you 2 to 4 MPG better. I have not seen anyone post that they do any better than that. Also when asking question it helps us if you tell us year make, mode,l 4X4, auto trans etc... Welcome....

Cool

Most trucks are seriously under aspirated. I had a 27 year Ford mechanic tell me that they breathe about like you would if they put a soda straw in your mouth, pinch-clamped you nose closed and told you to go running. You will have to spend a little bit, but nothing terrible. Get a cold air kit on your throttlebody intake. Cheaper ones are exactly that, BUT you don't HAVE to get a K&N. They cost a little more, but the best things do. THEN put a cat back exhaust system on it. Grand total will be between $600-800, but then, not only will it look, soung and respond a LOT better, but you will be getting A LOT better mileage city and hiway. Most cat-back exhausts have good instructions and the cold air intake is a "bolt on" also. IF you save up or if you can go get it and splurge, you won't regret doing these teo things. It will look, run, respond and sound a LOT better. OLDER trucks (90's) are a lot easier to do yourself and you don't need a degree in mechanical engineering to pull it off.

Cool Aspiration

Most trucks don't breathe well at all. Put a cold ait kit and a cat back exhaust on. Both are "bolt-on's" and don't require you to be an experienced mechanic to install. You'll be SHOCKED!!! and getting so much better mileage, you'll be paying yourself back by doing these things.
It's simple really. If the engine doesn't have to work as hard iy gets better mileage. And it sounds REALLY GOOD also!

If you want something major...like a 10 mpg boost. Your looking at swapping in a Cummins B series diesel. And that nearly take a ME degree...which I'm still 3 years from obtaining. It's also my next major project. Haha

give it up zap brannigan, no one cares about your 30MPG cummins, haha!
On another note the Gotts mod will out preform CAIs on the new trucks, havent researched it for the older ones however. Worth a google search id say, Gotts is free.

I did the gotts and it brought me up about 1.5 mpg. So now my little 4.2 gets 15.5 mpg. And yes, my father's Common Rail 5.9 gets 30mpg, in a 3/4 ton tuck. But I'm pretty sure I said B series, not B5.9 ISB CR. If you do some research you'd find there are 13 engines in the B series based off of 5 blocks, three I4's, two I6's. So going to a B3.9 inline inline 4, doubling the torque, doubling the mileage, and keeping the hp the same seems like a pretty good idea to me. Especially if you don't want to dish out the cash for an EB but still want to make mileage in the upper 20's and be able to out pull most V8's on the market. But again, this is a drastic modification to get great mileage for a truck and really only pays itself off if you need a new engine to begin with.

Every other post you make is about a Cummins. Have some fun, for the next week make every post about a Cummins.

Don't forget a tuner to account for these mods. Also, the paying yourself back bit is a lesson in diminishing returns. I've broke the math down several times, typically the break-even point is between 60k-80k miles when you compare the actual cost to drive per mile. I does make you feel better paying marginally less at the pump, so at least it feels nice. It's not worth investing money in an attempt to get better mileage and save at the pump. Mod for power, not for MPGs.

OP: If you have a lift kit, remove it. Go back to stock size all season tires which are properly inflated. Drive easy, keep it under 75, no AC, windows up. Or troll craigslist for a cheap sipper like an old Neon.
