Question tips for better MPG??

Sorry if this post is redundant.. I just joined today and I am trying to figure this site out.

Anyhow... what does your MPG look like? I average about 11-13mpg but I would like to increase it. any suggestions? i am getting a tonneau cover soon so that should help with drag, plus i just changed my air filter yesterday and i am weary about changing my spark plugs because i have heard the horror stories.

let me know!

The most important thing to "adjust" is the "nut behind the wheel" in most cases. Slow starts...timing of lights and coasting...heck even shifting to neutral (with an automatic) will unload the torque convertor and save a tiny bit of fuel.

http://www.gasssavers.org has a bunch of hypermiling info...just use the safe stuff

I get about 14-16 on the highway. A Gotts Mod is helpful. Every now and then I put a little lucas fuel additive in. I personally haven't seen much of a difference in synthetic v conventional oil. Make sure the tires are inflated to the right pressure. If you run oversized tires on the same rim, take a proportion of the pressure to area of the tire and wheel as one unit or you can subtract out the rim if you want to go with comparing OE to aftermarket wheels and tires (outside dimensions work fine for these purposes) to get a good idea of what pressure you should be running there.

I get way better mileage when going down hill. See if you can find a route to your destination that has the most downhill.

changed oil - check
gotts mod - check
"adjusted the nut behind the wheel" - check
tire pressure - check
