Throttle Body Failure Code P2112
Just some information for the forum. I encountered the dreaded P2112, throttle body failure on my 2016 F150. Its a 3.5 Ecoboost and had about 48000 miles at the time of failure. Symptoms were sudden loss of power, would only "idle" forward at best as well as check engine light of course. I was able to idle backwards into my neighborhood. Scanned for code, result was P2112. Called dealer and picked up new part, full throttle body and electronic actuator unit for $78. replaced myself in about 15 minutes. Note: you will need a new gasket as well for about $3. The dealer wanted to charge ~ $500 for the repair. I also filed a complaint with the NHTSA, as the sudden loss of power occurred when pulling out into traffic and was dangerous.
I have a friend with a 2017 F150 and they encountered the same issue and sudden loss of power when pulling out into traffic. They has approx 39000 miles on their truck.
Hope this helps others, message me with questions.

Got the same issue. Limp home mode.
problem was I had a custom tune load and the tune module showed the codes, But had to clear them before taking to the dealership. So I get the story from the dealer they can't work on it, under my expensive extended warranty, Because I cleared the codes. Only 66000 miles on my 2014 Ecoboost. No real problems till now.
Just wondering if anyone knows if the dealership would deny working on it if they knew I had a custom tune. By clearing the codes. Problem seems to have been cleared up. Dealer told me to drive it around and get it real hot to get the problem back. Did that No luck, no codes thrown. I guess I'll try to clean it with CRC First
Thanks Cobra man

I just read an article (WSJ) regarding Ford's 2021 broncos, evidently there are as many as 25,000 of these vehicles effected. I remember reading the problem was caused by a very small lot of "bad valves" supplied by an outside mfg. It appears this may not be the case. Having the engine quit, without notice needs No discussion as it applies to the safe operation of any vehicle. I must wonder if the two are related in some way? Here is a quote from the WSJ:
""""""The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Ford have started to investigate whether its new and highly popular Bronco has an engine failure problem at high speed. If so, it would be one of the most dangerous issues in the recent history of recalls. The hazard involves the 2021 model of the small SUV. There are about 25,000 of these."""""""

2014 F150 ecoboost 3.5 ....155k miles, first occurence.......yep, got the friggin wrench thing and power loss (with the wife in the truck =0 ) so I found the codes, searched the Internet and came across this thead, yours was the most hopeful so I blasted the puppy with carb cleaner till it ran clear while still installed and it ran, had two more speed bumps first few miles but then good. Now I'm running a fresh 35 gal tank of gas seasoned with Sea Foam to clean up the whole route.....thanks.....simple fix for only a buck three eighty......good news was it wasn't the feared timing chain or turbos.....

2016 F150 4x4 screw 3.5 ecoboost around 50,000 miles - here's another data point and how I fixed it for cheap. First time it happened was about 2 years ago while towing 6,000+ lbs RV camper. It suddenly went in to limp mode while I'm driving in town on a busy road. So I shut her down, let sit off for 20 secs or so and restarted it, wrench light was gone, and continued on my way like nothing happened. Then it happened again about a month later. So I pulled out my code reader to see what's going on and it was p2112. Looked around on the net and saw lots of folks talking about carbon build up and dirty throttle body. So I put in twice the recommended concentration of Gumout Fuel Injector & Carburetor Cleaner with a full tank of gas. Repeated that for the next 2 tanks (3 tanks total). Has not happened since then and now it has 78,000 miles. So every once in a while I add Gumout at recommended concentration just to keep her insides clean. It must work. It's been 2 years lol.
