Default Stuck Lug nuts

One of the fancy lug nuts really married itself to the alloy wheel. It was already swollen. I took off the shell. All the others came out with with a powerful impact. This one rounded itself out. I pounded on an 18mm, but it is not enough to break it free. Just rounds out more. Worth trying one of those spiral bolt extractors? Or should I be thinking about drilling it out.

The F150 has been made since 1975, and every year is open to discussion here. So we have no idea what you're talking about until you tell us. The best way is to put ALL the truck's details into your signature as this page explains, so we can always see them:

While that is typically a good idea: If you need to know "ALL the truck's details" in order to give advice on removing a rounded off lug nut, you aren't much of a mechanic. LOL.

When removing rusted/corroded/swollen lug nuts, if you can apply heat, it can be your best friend. I literally twisted a 4-way trying to get a lug nut off ones ("ALL the details" of the vehicle not relevant). Heated it up with my MAPP gas torch and it damn near came off with one hand.

Also, get yourself an extractor (or set). Make sure it's the right size for that larger lug nut. See here: https://www.f150forum.com/f12/help-r...2/#post7204690

Cool

Like if or not, a lot of NYFordTruckMan posts require playing 20 questions after starting a thread.

And providing information has nothing to do with being a mechanic or not it's just good netiquette because telepathic or Carnac we're not.

And heating it up does wonders for the alloy wheels' clear-coat.

You left out a few details, including WHAT WHEELS & LUG NUTS it has. Are they original Ford parts? Or an aftermarket brand? How long have they been on? Did you install them, or did some shop impact the hell out of them? What size was it originally? How did it get swollen? If you knew it was swollen before, why did you allow it to be put back on?

If you prefer to give advice knowing NOTHING, then that's probably what your advice is worth. If he's gonna put ANY info into his signature, he might as well put it ALL in so he doesn't have to keep adding every time he posts a new question or raises a new topic. Another reason is: he might not know what factors are relevant to this issue, so again: putting them ALL in makes sense.

Are your fingers fireproof, or did you wait for it to cool again before putting your hand on it?

Anyway...
MAPP gas hasn't been produced for over a decade. So as fascinating as your anecdote is, he can't do that.

Pound on an impact socket, use a breaker and a long pipe.

Make sure to use a 6 point socket only.

He already rounded it off, it's a no point.

They are original Ford 20" alloy Wheels that came with an 11 Platinum with a 6.2L. I believe the lug nuts are two piece originals. I will be replacing them with one piece lugs. I have NO Idea about how or who did the last rotation. I know tires were replaced late in 19, so they may have been on since.

I know some lug nuts are missing their tops. The wheels are in poor condition (clearcoat gone in some places, and no doubt the lugnuts have galvanic corrosion). The other 5 lugnuts came out with varying degrees of difficulty. Most spun the shell and had to be punched and peeled. One of them needed 2 powerful impacts. The one that rounded out - I was pounding with that Battery Earthquake for about 4 min. I also tried a long breaker. Finally it stripped. I am keeping it moist with pb and kroil till I can use the extractor.

I ordered a spiral nut remover from amazon, I will keep the thread updated and mention the product if it works. Dealing with the rear parking brake disaster at the moment.
