SparkPlugs
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and information. Im extremely pissed at ford over this but your all gave me some good info and I do really love my truck but right is right and I got bent over seriously. Thanks again.
There is extensive information on this issue here in this forum. I posted the offical Ford method of dealing with stripped threads, Take a gander at the Brisk plug they made a one piece plug for the Ford long before anyone one else did. Just put the blowing sparkplug in the search engine for thread and you will find it.
I had same problem in my 04 and it was overwhelming when I found out about all the trouble with the plugs but in the long run it was not that big a problem, I bought the tool to take the broken plugs out and only broke 1 and had it out in 10 minutes. I let them soak in BP blaster overnight after I broke them loose before taking them out and well turning them out make sure you work them in and out.
I just completed the job of changing the plugs in my f150 5.4., FOUR out of EIGHT BROKE just like everything I read said it would. I bought the extraction tool from tooltopia.com and I am back on the road. I went with the one piece champion plug which Carquest ordered for me. My truck runs like new now. 72,ooo miles. The job was not too bad, The dealers are way over priced. The entire job includng plugs and tool cost about $200.00.
The champion #7989 is the one piece plug that I used, best price I found was $12.95 each at my local CarQuest. The extraction tool set was $70.00 plus shipping. I also bought a set of long extension plug sockets from tooltopia. Should have bought em at the same time and saved a few bucks shipping. I also soaked em overnight with PB Blaster. The broken sheilds were not hard to extract with the tool. I also used my shop vac reduced down to vaccum ceramic bits before and after using the extraction tool.
