Default Radar detector help

I have a radar detector I'm not sure what model I have to check in the morning. But anyway when the temperature outside gets over 80 degrees it won't turn on but it works when it's under 80 degrees. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks

I'm going to go out on a limb and say if it is a cheap one.... It is overheating.
If it were a higher end model I'm guessing you'd know the model of the detector

I'm going to stick with original thought of overheating....
Is it hard wired to the truck or do you use the lighter adapter?

Ok. Once you get the brand/model may be able to offer some other help. Until then... Next time it is going to get above 80 take it out of the truck when not driving it and use it only when driving. Maybe run the AC with it blowing through the window vents to offer colder air. If it has a black chassis it is absorbing additional heat through the windshield and will be much hotter than 80.

Could be something with the way the previous owner hard wired it. Could be a connection going bad/expanding in the heat too.
A lot of variables.

We can start with the model, when you get it.

Just a thought...

Turn it over and look for the model number, then google that model number and the word "overheating"...
