Default New and need advice

I have just purchased my first f-150. It's a 2005 Super Cab. I have wanted a pick up for years and am thrilled.

There is a bit of surface rust starting in the bed. I would like to have a spray in liner installed and am hoping folks can suggest a direction.

I am also looking to put a topper over the bed and haven't a clue on what are important features, how much to pay, how to do any wiring and the like.

So..... suggestions on:
* Spray on liner
* Topper would be very much appreciated.

Thank You,

Tony

Welcome, and congrats on the truck Tony. I don't have one, but it seems that Line-X is the preferred spray in liner. The folks that do it will prep you bed before they spray hopefully taking care of the surface rust. As far as a topper I'm of no help whatsoever there.

Thank You Wanted 33. I have seen reviews that preferred Line X also.

Any idea what I should expect to spend to have it done?

dont spray it ontop of the rust until you get them to remove the rust and weld new metal where the rust used to be. then spray the goo on after the rust is taken care of.

Trust me you will not need to have the rust cut out and a new piece put in. 99% of the time it is just surface rust and can be taken care of easily by the liner company.

Very Smart. If you plan to keep your new kick **** truck for awhile, then, it will pay your dividends. But don't make the same mistake as me. Do the metal/rust fixxing first before you do any cosmetic work.

And as an aside, when you get to it...upgrade the tunes. Stock is so bad. I didn't know what I was missing now that mine rocks inside and out. But sorry to digress.

I have a long discussion in some of my past threads regarding rust problems in the bed box.

As far as a topper I have never had one just tonneau covers. I just did a google search and put in truck toppers and it has everything you will every want to know about toppers and which one would work for your needs.

Also congrats on your new truck.

I'm not sure the price Tony. The way I use my truck the bed mat, and tail gait protector serves my fine. I expect between $400 & $500 depending on the area you live. Not bad for a great product.

If you want you can do a search for "Line-X" in the 2009 - present section of the forum. There are quite a few threads talking about spray in liners.
