Engine swap
This is just my opinion but, mechanically the engine will bolt into place, but that's about where it stops. All of the engine electrical harness have to be swapped, the exhaust connections changed, the fan shroud changed and the radiator replaced for a larger core and many other issues. The computer will have to be switched from the donor vehicle or reprogrammed for the 5.4 and the proper O2 sensors installed to read fuel combustion correctly.
You can make anything work but you should know going into this there will be many issues to deal with before you'll have a running vehicle. Again, just my opinion.

Thanks for the input, sounds like it might be better to find a truck that already had a 5.4L in it. May still consider it only because I have a 97 motor with only 50,000 miles, plan on pulling every thing off my 97 lariat and scrapping it due to severe rust and numerous other issues.
