Default Flowmaster Exhaust Note- Help

I picked up a flowmaster American thunder exhaust with split side exit and it came with the additional piping to have the dual rear exit. My question is will it make a difference in the exhaust note heard inside the cabin? I'm just curious because I would assume if you have the exhaust pointed towards the rear, you would hear less than if they were pointed to the side.

Has anybody had experience with this?

It all comes down to the muffler and the resonator. In my expierience you'll here it inside more with the resonator removed. I don't think that the side or rea exit is going to make a huge difference if they are both exiting after the rear axle. It might make a difference if you run a turn down before the rear axle.

If you have the 5.0 it will be loud regardless. My roommate had the American thunder kit on his mustang. It sounded amazing, but very droney in the cab.

Barrett, with everything else left the same, changing the exit from side to rear will not make much of a difference to the inside cabin volume and tone.

It could come up if towing...I've heard a few folks complain about rear exits while towing.

Thanks for the info...I've got the 5.0 and the first day I drove it I thought it was a lot louder than I expected. But after today, I guess I'm getting used to it and actually kind of like it...if the wife has too much of an issue with it, i may resort to putting the resonator back on.

Oh well, I guess I'll be leaving the side exit extensions on it then. Thanks for the help.
