Factory Camera anytime?
Another electrical question for all of you engineers lol
It's been posted in this thread on how to do the Anytime back up camera modification.
One issue that I did not bring up was how do you work around the issue of when the camera turns itself off after you put the vehicle and drive and you go faster than 5 mph.
Yes there is a sudden in the – that's called camera delay but what causes the camera to turn off?
I'm guessing if there's no work around this issue then I must run a complete separate power wire to the camera from the switch?

As far as I can tell, the camera is on all the time. I have my Kenwood receiver tied to its video output and anytime I switch to the rear camera feed, I see the image. The truck turns off the screen in the rear view mirror (on my 2011 XLT). They probably use the circuit that goes to 12V when in reverse to turn the screen on. If you have the rear view camera image on your center touch screen, it is probably switched to that display mode by the same circuit.
No need to provide anything more to the camera. If you want to find out for sure, just unplug the connector and check the pins for voltage.
