Personally, I'd go with 4wd, but, I live at 5000 feet and am an hour away from 10000 feet in almost any direction ... LOL. Used to be 4wd cost you mpg's. I don't think that is as big a factor anymore. It sure comes in handy if you get caught in mud, snow, or any other non asphalt situation.

I have a "river rock" area for "toy" parking, trailers. To get trailers into it, I need to back the trailer over a curb onto the river rock. I use 4wd so I don't spin the trucks tires as much when backing trailers into that area. Spinning the tires makes holes that I need to redistribute the river rock to fill.

Also around here we have lots of gravel or road base driveways/roads. 4wd is nice in them as well. To be honest, I don't ever remember seeing a 2wd truck in this area. LOL.

Being in Western Colorado we don't get the big snow dumps, high desert, but, when we do, we also don't have large numbers of plows. Guess the policy is we don't use them often, so we don't buy them. When we do get snow, it sure is nice to have the 4wd.

Also, if I go on any trips, I have to cross mountains. I was coming back from Wing Ding (Goldwing Motorcycle Rally) in Indiana and when I got to Denver, there was fresh snow in the Rockies. This was in July ... LOL. It was gone the next day, but it happens. Being on a bike, I just got a hotel and a good dinner.

Couple years ago I went to a HOG rally (Harley Owners Group) in late June in Breckenridge, Co. (in the Rockies). Six days before the rally they had 8" of snow. It was piled up from the parking lot of the hotel we stayed at and in the shadows was melting only slowly. You never know what will happen here, but, if you live where there are never dirt roads or snow ... then maybe 2wd is enough.

If you're making dump runs, never been to a dump that was paved ... might come in handy there as well.

No idea where you live, as your profile doesn't state.

Anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon, a truck needs four wheel drive.

Personally, an F150 needs four wheel drive, a Super Crew cab and at least a 6.5' bed.

I live south of the manson-nixon line (I-80) 4X4 and Supercab is needed at least between both lines and if you live where it snows, it's better to have it and not need it instead of need it and don't have it....

I live within 45min or so outside of Washington DC. Except for maybe a snowstorm or 2 between Jan-Early March not much snow. IF it does area does pretty well at plowing and luckily i have a job i can work from home when it snows. I have driven in snow and i just go slow and keep lower gear and do ok with FWD on my fusion, used to have an 01 Ranger w/2WD and as long as i put weight in bed i was good in light snow, heavy deep stuff not so much. besides snow, i don't off road (blasphemy i know lol) live in kinda of a mixed rural and suburban area. Dont plan on much towing besides a light trailer occasionally, 90% of the time commuting to work and around area.

the 2.7 ecoboost or the 3.5 ecoboost whats the average mpg like? any issues? is the powerboost worth it?. I dont plan on doing much towing besides occasional basic trailer, 90% of the time commuting and dump runs when needed. thanks for the input!
Is the PB worth it? Only you can answer that question. The PB is worth it to me because of the 7.2Kw generator. I tow a lot, and boondock a lot. I'm tired of carrying and deploying portable generators. Of secondary value to me is the gas mileage when not towing and driving around my local area. My current tow truck, a 163" WB, 3.5L EB, w/ HDPP only averages 16+ MPG. If I can avg 21+ around the town and country, I'll be happy as a clam at high tide. The extra HP and torque mean little to me.

MSRP is 63335, with X-plan 59520, also minus 1000 rebate which i will get at delivery OR any better rebates if available AND i get the tax amount 3500 OFF because i will have a trade total 8500 off...cannot wait for the truck, estimated delivery late April/May

really nice truck!!! i dont know if you added it or not, but make sure you have the 7.2kw package added. its not much more but adds a lot of usability to the vehicle.
