My Mazda CX9 SUV is twice as large inside then my F150 and it blows ice within 2 minutes of the AC being on and it is 95 degrees out. We have to face it, the F150 A/C is mediocre.

 

I was referring only to f150's AC. It seems since the cabin volume of the regular cabs are smaller its makes it cooler faster and keeps it cooler than the crew cabs since they all have the same AC system. Trying to keep it apples to apples. That new as also a big compliant on the Dodge Mega Cabs heating and cooling systems.

 

Are the newer trucks using 134 or has that changed?

Edit . On a side note sure do miss the days of r 12, that stuff could blow out at 30 degrees at the vent and create frost.

 

Recharge it. this stuff works wonders. Follow the simple gauge.
I literally have to turn my a/c down it gets so cold (regular cab).
My pressure was at 40 psi on a 94 degree day. (gauge states it should be between 25-45)
I have an a/c temp gauge, but didn't have it with me at the time.
But I was very comfortable in the cab.

 

I live in Arizona, where we almost hit 120 last week.

I noticed a HUGE difference after having the windshield done with 3M Crystalline tint (70%). Way expensive, especially if you factor in eventual windshield cracks, but I don't even have to put a sun shield up when I leave my car in the full sun and it's merely hot (not "spontaneous ignition" hot) when I return.

Seriously, I'm going to have it done to my other vehicle. In the AZ sun, cold is gold!

 

Just curious - how often do you do this recharge? Have you found that recharging gets you through the whole summer?

 

Must have changed things on the newer trucks, my `17 will freeze your **** stiff.

 

Old thread, but I've had the same problem in my truck. The air just isn't that cold, AND the vents are super noisy when you blast max AC. In my last crew cab (Nissan) I could blast max AC for 5 minutes and then turn it on the lowest setting and it kept things cool, this truck I have to blast on max AC the entire time (and we aren't even into July or August yet).

 

Word. R12 + 73-76 GM VIR AC = Commercial Grade Freezer............


I have used this product before (had a slow leak in my 99 Trans Am) and I can absolutely say that the AC does get colder with this product.
