I just bought a case of the 5w-30w motorcraft synthetic oil to change mine. Not much more than the blend.

Question, how does a dealer prove to a customer the oil is correct and changed? KM

Back in ‘86 I was pulling wrenches in a GM store. An Astro van came in with an engine knock. Was told to pull the oil pan and see what I can find. Pull the drain plug and NOTHING came out. Stuck a screw driver in the drain hole and it looked like I dipped it in thick peanut butter only black. Still had the factory oil filter on it. Clearly this van had zero oil changes and it had 96,000 km’s on it. Service writer talked to the customer and says he was told it was a maintenance free vehicle. What he was originally told was free maintenance for 2 years - Due to a language bearer he thought it was maintenance free - meaning it did not need maintenance.

Especially for slow techs who take 14 smoke breaks a day.
Others find that flat rate times are good. One job may take a tech 10% longer to get done, then the next job is done 10% early, so it all balances out. The worst is Yamaha on motorcycle repairs, they have impossible times.
