Hey ford called me today and said they have fixed her. Said it was the VTS variable timing sensor. I get to pick her up tomorrow.

I wish I could say the same. I changed my tensioners, guides, and chains and now the truck is worse. I now have noise that I did not have before, which sounds like loud phaser noise. I had no phaser noise before doing the work. Worst truck I have ever owned!

Default 08 f150 cam phaser problem

i have a 2008 f150 with the triton 5.4 motor with 60540 miles on it and it started making the clacking/banging crazy noises last week, only at low rpms with a load like letting off the brake in forward or reverse. took it to the dealer and had them listen to it and they acted like they never heard one doing this, go figure!--so 800.00 bucks later they said it was the cam phasers, both sides and replaced them.--the warranty was 540 miles over so of course they wouldnt warranty it. anyway i picked the truck up and drove it home and lo and behold! it still has the same problem! they are looking it over now, we'll see what they come up with. any comments?

Reading this thread is making me very nervous. I have an04 with 75000. It makes noise like a clattering diesel, mostly from the right bank. It's not that bad at an idle but worse during acceleration. Took it to the dealer and you guessed it they say it's the cam phaser. I am planning to take it to the dealer for repairs after the 1st of the year. It doesn't sound to me like anyone is getting satisfactory answers for this problem. Has anybody actually had this problem fixed to their satisfaction!

I just did the livernoise cam phaser lockouts and sct tuner (400 bucks) on my 08 fx4 cause my engine sounded like a powerstroke best thing I ever done it has more power it's quiet and runs like a new truck I went to ford for months and they would not fix it even though I had warranty still so I wanted to fix it and forget ford. Don't let it go cause my friend just put in a motor cause the phasers were gone.

So here is the problem > The truck starts and runs fine until I put it under any kind of load. Then, when the motor rpms start to fall after coming to a stop, I hear a loud slapping/rattle noise like the chains are flapping against the front of the timing cover. I can also do a basic brake stand and then let off the gas and as the motor winds down it makes the noise again. The noise is only there for a few seconds and then it is gone. I give it gas and start going again with no problems until I slow down at the next stop and as the motor winds down it slaps/rattles for a few seconds and is gone again. Sometimes it does not even make the noise and I will drive for days without hearing it and then all of a sudden it comes back. ANY THOUGHTS AS TO WHAT THIS PROBLEM COULD BE??
What year is the truck
