I got mine for 2 reasons. I keep emergency stuff back there and I want quick access when it’s needed. Secondly, it’s a “shiny red anodized Doo Dad” that I had to have.

I just firmly push the seat back into position, no slamming at all in my SCab. I keep window cleaner, paper towels, microfiber towels, and some other crap back there out of sight.
Asking why I need it, is like asking why did I buy a SCab, answer, it's what I wanted to do, and I've never had anyone in the back seat.
I've seen where One Hung Lo over in China is copying the Built Right unit. No thanks, you get what you pay for, plus you're helping a North American company out, and a vendor on here. I'll pay the price, thank you.

Like most folks I keep all my emergency gear behind the seat. If I need to get to it I want to be able to quickly. $30 (or free if you want to rig something up) is totally worth it to me. I can't imagine trying to pop that seat forward in stock form with cold hands.
Tow strap, shackles, flashlight, glow sticks, gloves, larger first aid kit (band-aids are in the console), jumper cables, 1 set of dry clothes (I do a lot of fishing on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers). I also have a very small go bag if I get stranded in the boonies.
