Default Perimeter security system, 2017 crew.

I have a new to me 2017 crew. The window stickers shows the truck having a perimeter security system. How do I engage this system. I locked the truck and pounded on the windows, no alarm sounded? Do I need to set the perimeter Security System? And how do I set it? Thanks Tomm

Settings are in dash screen, don't forget to take the fob out of your pocket before pounding on your truck

You do not have shock sensors with the basic perimeter alarm system. I believe it only goes off if the doors open. You could beat your truck with a bat and it will never go off. Perimeter plus gives you that feature. You can buy the module however that gives you the shock sensor. Check the 15-19 section, there are a few threads about this.

Open driver's window. Lock and close doors. Wait 30 seconds. Reach in and open door with handle. Alarm sounds.

He mentioned pounding on the windows and not setting off the alarm.

Thanks for the reply. I must say hum? So it sounds like breaking a window will not set off alarm, but opening a door when it is locked the alarm will sound. So to save my windows in a break in, I should leave the windows down a bit. Lol. I’m going to test opening door when locked by reaching thru window.

And you told him that's not a feature with his system, and what he needs to buy (VSS) to get the shock sensor.
He asked how to set it, and I told him how to, and how to set it off.

You can also test for a shock sensor by opening the door, hitting lock button, and closing door (window still open). Wait 30 seconds and then smack palm on steering wheel.

Thanks, Ricwuhk. I just set off my alarm, with windows down. I will need to look into getting the Plus, as I leave my truck unattended often at boat ramps that are in poor areas. Thanks

Why? Those sensors are more of a problem. If they break you window the sensor will trigger the alarm but the window is still broken. The sensor will also trigger the alarm if someone bumps it in the parking lot, if there is loud thunder, car passing with loud music etc. I can't think of any factory system with shock sensors. They have interior motion sensors and inclination sensors but shock sensors are to much of a annoyance that would cause customer complaints.

It's been many years, but I was in a parking lot, and walked beside a vehicle ... too close, I guess. A speaker said "Please get away from the car, you are too close" or something like that. Is that what you are looking for? I don't see anything similar on Crutchfield who are usually the top of the list for such things.
