Default Builtright Industries Rear Seat Release Kit -

I installed the rear seat release kit from Builtright industries on my 2018 F-150 XLT. The release works like a charm, but I can't get the seat to lock back into place. I think I was able to do it once, but had to slam the heck out of the seat. I don't think that is a flaw of the seat release bracket, probably just the truck seat latch itself. This seat partition doesn't seem to be designed as a common storage area to be accessed by owners.

There is a rod where it catches that moves up and down. Was wondering if anyone has come up with a solution to easily get the seat to lock back.

After I release the seat and before I put it back in place I look at the alignment of latch and catch , I adjust the catch with the latch with my finger and close the seat without having to slam it . BuiltRight seat release works without having to slam the seat into submission. It's not hard to do and saves wear on latch , catch , and seat

I really like mine! However, if you dig around, there are about 6 other options now at half the price.

On my 2012, if I fold the bottom of the seat up, then it will latch effortlessly (almost) every time. Otherwise, I have to adjust the sliding rod my hand.

same thing on my ‘13. Just lift up a little on the seat bottom. Also, make sure the rod is not binding. Maybe lube it up so it slides freely!

Thanks for the tips. I tried lifting the seat in combination with aligning the rod as I'm placing the seat back. It didn't catch easily but I was able to finagle it and did need to do a light slam. Suffice to say, I'm not going to place anything back there that will require frequent access. Thanks for the advice. Any other tips?

On another note, would love to hear what everyone keeps back there?

I keep a first aid kit, tow strap and “D” ring for my receiver, flashing LED road flares and 6 spare factory lug nuts for my spare tire ( if needed )!

Mine needed help aligning the first time but it’s fine now as long as I don’t raise the seat at the same time.

So, out of curioisity, why do you put your seat back down often enough that this is a good investment?
