Bleeding problem

Don't know how much time you have but it might be worth your while to look @ cragslist for your area, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of independent shops and/or tech's that have the required tools. I'm an ex Ford tech so I have everything I need and do stuff on the side from time to time, couple other guys at my shop the same.
Another place you might inquire is www.flatratetech.com Ford tech's started that site and it exploded into all makes and the tech's that fix them, just go into the forum they have and shout out so to speak, might be someone right around the corner from you, never know.

Ok, took it to ford today, they bled the system and he pedal feels pretty good. Now after driving 5-10 mins the abs light comes on. Turn the key off and start it again no light, drive 5-10 mins light back on. Pedal still feels good. What the hell?

Is the master cylinder full? Could be any number of sensors and or the hcu itself or wiring.

They might tell you to , they might fix it and send you on your way. Worth a shot.

Well, that's the thing.... It's been about six months since I've really drove it because I took the motor out and had it rebuilt, so I can't remember how the brakes felt before. The pedal does go farther than my chevy work truck but they grab good. I guess I'll start with taking it back to ford which sucks cuz they are 40+ miles away. If no results there I may look into getting rid of abs altogether.

When the abs system detects a fault you get the light which basically lets you know the abs is off so you have regular brakes, just when you stomp the peddle the wheels will lock up if the conditions favor it. If the peddle feels good and stops the truck you don't have to do anything, just drive it.
