If you wouldn't mind, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't quite understand the whole wiring concept with relays, etc.. so a step by step would be perfect.

No problem.... the tough part will be figuring out where to tap into the interior light circuit to run the relay for the lights without having to pull the fuse box away from the truck to get to the backside

Well what if you used these lights, would you even need a relay?

They are only 1 Watt

1 watt...

12 volts x .083 amps = 1 Watt

so it should be ok without a relay, but you would still have to "tap" into the interior light circuit if that is when you wanted them to come on....

I'm still not sure how I'm gonna do it, because if I am offroading I don't want my interior lights to come on when I turn the rock lights on. So I may use two different circuits with diodes so that I can use a switch to either turn the lights on, or have them run off the inside lights.

For rock lamps yes, but for an LED strip under the cab on each side should not require a relay - right? I had the specs on some that I was looking at but can't find them now. They draw a minuscule amount of current, IIRC.

Anything over 2 or so amps, I would run a relay just to be sure that you don't...
1. Blow the fuse
2. Get the wire hot

(all numbers in the next rambling are not facts, just numbers for sake of conversation)
Say the interior lights draw 4 amps.. the wiring is designed for 7 amps and the fuse is a 5 amp... Adding lights that take another 2 amps would mean that you are now running 6 amps and the fuse will blow, and keep blowing..... to make a easy fix- you install a 7.5 amp fuse... now you fuse is higher rated than your wiring, thus your wires will get hot and eventually burn out.

Well.....

I picked up 4- 4" flood lights at napa today, they were on sale 50% from 20. so I got all 4 for 39.00, I got some loom and wire.

Need to pick up a relay or two and figure out a switch that will look good.

May do it tomorrow, but brakes are the number one priority. Picked up some wagners today for the front. rear is still good.. Hopefully I can get by without turning the rotors...
