50% Tint?
Just got off the phone with a window tint shop.
He said he would not match the 20% tint on back windows and would go with 50%.
His reason was that it's still illegal for very dark tint in illinois and he could get in trouble.
Question is....Is 50% too light? Will I be happy with it? I have no idea how it will look until it's on.
Thanks

That will hardly be noticeable. Regular auto tint has finally comes out with a 30% (a bit darker than the 35% that was normal for legal front windows...in most states). IMO 20% hurts visibility at night...35% is still a bit too light during the daytime. Try to find a good tint shop that will install some of the new 30% tint. It is so close to the factory tint on the other windows...the difference is barely noticeable.

I have 20% on my front windows and it doesnt bother me at night. I like the even look. On my lightning I had 5% on the two side windows, rear window, and 35% on the windshield, this was a little dark lol. Ill be getting my windshield in this truck done in 50%
Usually 15-20% matches factory. I think 35- 50% is a waste of money.
I just had 5% put on my front two windows and 15% on the back. The 15% over the factory tint makes a perfect match for the front 5%.
He won't get in trouble. If that was true window tinters would probably go out of business.. hah I rarely see anything lighter than 15% around here.

I don't think you could see the difference between 30% and 35%. The 35 on the front door windows doesn't darken the interior but it cuts the sun's rays, making it much more comfortable. In the sun, if you open the window, you can instantly feel the sun's heat on your skin.
In Texas, the installer is required to insert a tag under the film to show it complies with the law. I haven't seen that in any other state I have lived.

Check your state laws, I know in Texas it's illegal and you will NOT pass inspection. However you are allowed to get a 5" or 6" cowl on the top of the windshield
