I'm looking at getting a 1972 ford f100 for $1000, it has quite a bit of rust but it really doesn't have any problems engine wise. It has 132k miles. Might want to use it as a project car but still not sure if I should do it. Please help?!?!?

I wouldn't get it, look around more. My neighbor got a '79 f250 custom for $400 with a little rust and it needed a new carb. So I recommend keep on looking and you'll find a truck at a cheaper price.

I just got a 79 4x4 with 4 speed big block 400, for $1700 from the original owner, everything under the truck from front to back was brand new, tie rods, all bushings, ignition box, radiator, power steering pump, alternator, belts, clutch, gas tank, interior all original down to the AM radio still in it, dash perfect condition and still has original carb.......now the bad, bed is completely rusted through, but I believe it is worth it. It is really up to the person and what you like and how bad you want it.

I personally think its worth it. You can get a new bed. Very hard to find a good rust free bed(hard for me since I live in Pennsylvania). I heard you can get rust free beds down south, but never researched it. Also have you ever seen a truck like that around where you live? I only seen one in my area and it's my neighbors(he got me into loving the '79's). Also 4X4 in the 70's trucks are pretty rare. And is the 400 original?

The 400 is not original, the PO said the truck came with 351 but he blew it up from pulling horse trailer, he had a new/rebuilt big block 400 put in from a 78 truck.

Ok that's not bad. Are you going to fully restore it? Or is it in decent condition?

Plan what you envision, low ride custom, stocker, restro, driver. Take a pen and paper, walk around it, crawl under it, list everything that needs done. Price parts to make your vision come true. Then look around and price something similar to what its going to end up being. then price a solid truck to take where you want it.
There is no price you can put on something that you did for yourself on these projects though.
My favorite is the 70 and 79 fords lol

It is good shape using it for my DD, nothing wrong under the hood, all the bad stuff is cosmetic, needs some dents pounded out and a new floor to the bed. And that is basically all it needs, interior is great.
