Well i would go and buy a chilton first off. I could be wrong but you might need a new bell housing. im not sure if that 4 spd will fit the motor but i could be wrong.

Yeah I have a Haynes on it's way in the mail. And im 99.9% sure it'll fit it's the same size and everyone I talk to says it shouldnt be a problem. What all is involved in getting a new bell housing?

ight so i read up in my Haynes manual. it says all from 300, 302, 360, 351, 400, 390 all have the ability to bolt onto an existing 4spd that was used for any one of them. all but the 460 will work. c-6 is the only tranny to be bolted to the 460. so depending on what the motor you are using this should be some help for you.

The 300, 302, and 351 windsor share the same bolt pattern(also called SBF), the 351 M(modified), 400(not M), 429, and 460 share the same bolt pattern(also called BBF), now as far as the bellhousing I'm sure they'll bolt up to the tranny no matter the bolt pattern on the bellhousing if thats what your talking about. And I've seen plenty of builds with a 460 and manual 4 speed or ZF5 speed in it. A manual CAN be used behind a 460, and as far as I know though when I had my stock 79 F150 with a factory 460 it had a c6 in it. If the 4 spd has the bellhousing on it you should be able to just bolt it up hook up all the linkage and go.

Does this hold true to for the next two gens of trucks 80-96?
