Did you go through the adjustment procedure? Might also want to lube the pivit points and cable (if any).

Is your clutch a hydraulic or of the mechanical type? If hydraulic, perhaps just some air in the system. If its mechanical, as clutches wear and freeplay disappears, we adjust to compensate. With new parts we need to take that freeplay away.

Another point, your shift linkage binding just might not be related to the clutch, check its linkage for loosness, this is a column shift, right?

Yes, check the adjustment. Have you got a Haynes manual? It will give you the step by step to do it.

Bill I need your help you seem to know a lot about these trucks. I have an f150 1997 that was running fine but then it stopped going into gear. The truck will go into gear when its turned off and will not go into gear when its turned on. I replaced the master cylinder and that didnt fix it. I have bled the clutch also. The clutch had no pressure but today after bleeding it it does. But it still will not go into gear. Can you help me please figure out what I need to do. Thanks

Sounds like your clutch is not disengaging. With a hydraulic clutch there is hardly any free play. Sounds like you might have an enormous amout of free play thus not releasing the disc from the pressure plates grip.

So what is going on, did this happen over a period of time or all of a sudden?

If bleeding cannot return clutch operation, tear down is required. Some things to look for on tear down, trans input shaft frozen to crankshafts pilot bearing. Clutch pressure plate fingers broken and not releasing clutch disc.

Get back to us and we can talk further.

Did you take out the rubber whatsit, when you filled it, and did you keep the master cylinder full while you bled it?

Something to think about, when you are in there replacing the pressure plate and disc, inspect the flywheel for blue spots. They indicated hot spots and possibe warpage, (cause of clutch chatter).
