My 1977 F150 Ranger XLT
My grandparents bought this truck brand new mainly to pull campers. They put overload springs on it, a Kelsey Hayes hydraulic/electric brake controller and a custom made hitch. The stock single exhaust was swapped for duals with Cherry Bomb glass packs They pulled several campers including a 36 ft. 5th wheel. They put 19k miles on it.
My parents bought in 1986 and used it to pull a couple of Airstreams, a pontoon boat, and then did fair weather hauling with it. They put 28k miles on it in 28 years before giving it to me a couple of years ago.
The truck has a 460, C6 and 2.75 rear end. The list of new parts is fairly short. It still has the original brakes. It has at least one original belt and had both original hoses until a couple of weeks ago. I had to change the lower radiator hose, then. It had the original plugs in it until I got it. The paint is original. It has been garage kept it's entire life and has never been in bad weather. It has never been in an accident. The interior is near perfect. My parents kept the seat covered with a heavy cover nearly the entire time they owned the truck. The truck pretty much runs and drives as new. The AC even still blows cold.
I used the truck last month to pull a 25 ft Airstream several hours home. It performed as it should. The trip to get the camper, it got 14.6 mpg on the interstate while running the air. Coming home with the camper, it got 9 mpg.

What a treasure! Don't ever sell it!

Great truck! Looks like it was built for that Airstream.
I'm not sure what I love the most here:
(1) The color combination and wheels
(2) The condition of it from bumper to bumper
(3) That it's been in your family from new
Probably all of it, actually.

That is one of the nicest completely original trucks I've seen. Awesome that so much care has been taken for all of it's life.

Thank you for the kind words....The truck is very special to me. I logged a lot of miles as a kid riding with my window down so I could hear the glass packs as my grandparents pulled a camper through the mountains. It took our camper to the 1982 World's Fair It pulled several campers to the beach over 10+ years for us ...It has always been a fixture in my life. Funny how the years went by. Until I got it in 2014, I hadn't driven it since 1987. I can only recall riding in it once since then, either. It was always just a fixture in my parents garage. My parents gave it to me with only 1 string attached...I had to build a garage for it.
