Default I6 header leaks, JB weld?

I tried to get my farm (f150 4.9 3spd od) truck to pass inspection but exhaust was escaping through the space between the exhaust manifold and the block. The header/manifold is rusted to the block. The place wanted $1000 to fix it, which is about what the truck is worth. I was thinking of putting JB weld over the spot the exhaust was escaping so I don't have to remove the header.

suggestions?

jbweld won't work... the manifold gets too hot and it will burn off.

Its not that bad just pull that sumbitch off and git er done. Or......You can move to a less liberal state and not have to deal with the crap.

JB Weld is nothing more than epoxy. Worked OK for years on a rust though on my motorcycle pipe...But is was in a place that does not get really hot.

I would try something like this:

Amazon Amazon

It will not last a long time but may get you through a smog check / inspection.

Note that you should get it fixed properly to prevent CO getting in the cab.

Default manifold issue

if I were you and are willing to go through the trouble of taking them out to weld them i would get some flotech headers depending where you get them they are in the lower 100 dollar range i paid 139. and change.
