fuel gauge

Default fuel gauge

i have a problem with my gas gauge on my 1968 ford f100 with in cab tank I have replaced the dash voltage regulater the gauge it self with new old stock the in tank sending unit twice the gauge will guit working at times and you can rock the cab and forth and it will start working has any one out there had this problem and how did you fix it jgh1

Maybe a priest....

Must be a wire issue between the sender unit and gauge connection.

Make sure you have 12v to your regulator.

Also measure the output of your regulator.

When its not working were is the pointer sitting?

On the "E" or pegged all the way over passed the "E" ?

the gauge only goes to e it does not peg out thanks jgh1

Yeah, probably no open or short then.

Your going to have to do some wire wiggle testing and inspection.

Maybe some of the other Lads will chime in with ideas.......

This just happened to me on my way home from work. I just filled up too. Look down, gauge is PEGGED way past the E.

just a note to tell all of my friends that tried to help with fuel gauge turned out to be the ignition switch many thanks to all jgh1
