Default Cruise control cable?

I have a 1986 f150 5.0 xlt and I have been trying to find what the dealership is calling a cruise control cable. When I got it, the cruise control didn't work, so I brought it in to see what the deal was and it turns out I was completely missing this cable. Upon further research, I'm being told that the cable is obsolete, or I can't get it. Now I come to you guys with a question - how can I get this cable or where can I order it online?

Default Try LMC Truck

Page 32 of their Ford catalog shows a dual cable, speedo/cruise? Since I
do have cruise at all, I cannot confirm.

Give them a call....good people.

I called, but they told me that they must not have it if it's not in the catalog. I looked at what you were referencing to, but it looks like that's just a speedometer cable? If it's not at LMC, where else could it be? I suppose I could look in a local junkyard, but if possible i'd rather just order it new, even if it is aftermarket.

Default If aftermarket cruise control - find the brand

Look on what remaining pieces of the cruise control you have for the brand.
You did not say it was not factory installed...should be able to get missing
stuff with more information in hand.

The cruise control is stock, but I didn't know if something as simple as the cable would be made aftermarket. I guess I could just get an entire aftermarket cruise control? That thought hadn't even crossed my mind.

On my '86 the CC box and cable seems to be all one piece... don't know for sure but it does not look like the cable can be removed from the box? Do you have the CC box thing on the driver side fender next to the brake boaster?

Sorry I've been occupied replacing my headlights and park lights today. Looks pretty nice. Other than that, I don't even know what the cc box looks like. I'm not very skilled with vehicles, and I have very little people willing to teach me. What does it look like? Where/ what is the brake booster?

In this drawing the CC is labeled as Speed Control Servo.

Located In the corner of the driver side fender and firewall.

Well from that diagram it would seem I'm completely missing the cc box. I've got this stray cable that I'm not sure what it goes to. am I looking in the wrong spot? I'm at the driver side fender near the fire wall and master cylinder.
