The only trucks that look good chopped are those 30s Hot Rod trucks, and earlier

I had a friend who did a chop on a '78. He cut the windshield to make it fit. I don't know how he did it without breaking it. He also cut the windshield gasket. I don't remember how he did the back window.

i have a friend that has a 1950 ford F1 with a LT1 motor in it...he was thinking about cutting the top but said it was too much trouble to cut the glass..and if he fcked it up it would be even more a pain in the azz to find a replacement...

Well I haven't touched it yet. In fact I haven't done zip to it.
I was planning on starting this project truck this year, but too many other pressing things going on. House to finish, 31 acres to take care of, fences, wood to put up, etc.

Now I have a 94 f150 with some fuel problems. Starting.
So I gotta stop and do that. Got 5 ford rides, and 2 are down. Gotta have spares when the newest one is a [now old] 1998 lariat.

The problem you have with chopping the top is not easy to do. My brother builds hot rod trucks and there are so many things you have to pay attention to when you are doing this to make it look good. an other thing is without a channeling job which is even more difficult to do the chopped cab looks out of place.

Default Some pics of 78

Major damage here. I have a donor 78 long bed that has a good fender and grill. A good roof and door tops for using in the chop.

Cutting the front posts will be a no brainer looks like, using the 4 cut method I have read about.

Rear cuts will also be a no brainer.
There is a double wall inside cab, so that will have to be dealt with.

What might be a head scratcher is the taper on the rear of the door window opening, and the wing glass's

Got inside and sat down and measured my head clearance to roof. There is 5". So Maybe a 3-1/2" or 4" chop is in order.
Looks like I can modify the seats brackets to drop about 1-1/2" before the center of seat hits the floorboard.
I like a bench seat, so I will probably keep the original seat.

This is bugging me to get started, but have other projects I need to get done before I start.
Finish house kitchen cabinets, some outside house work, etc.
And since I've changed careers this year, from a self-employed cabinet maker to back to driving a semi over the road, time may be limited and very spotty for this project/
Donor truck that I purchased several years back has the 460 that I want to build and install, and the 9" rear end.
I have a muncie 4-speed left over from selling my 23 T-bucket a few years back, and may find a standard bell housing for the 460 and use this 4-speed.
Not sure whether I will or not. I may just use the C-6 that is presently behind the 460

I say chop it dude. Mainly because I want to see what it looks like. I think it would look pretty sweet.
