AOD problem after carb conversion
1985 f150 4x4 AOD
I recently converted from fuel injection to carb. Since the conversion the transmission will not shift. I installed the lokar kickdown kit and cable and installed it per instructions. Ive adjusted the cable every which way posible with no luck. Throttle valve is not stuck and line pressure is good. Even a highly recommended transmission shop could not get it to work. Transmission was working fine before conversion.
Anyone else been thru this situation? Thanks!

The only thing the ecm controled was the fuel injection related componets and egr. The AOD has no vaccum and no electronics other than nuetral safety switch. Disconnecting cable does nothing as it is the cable that controls line pressure that allows the shifts

For the purpose of this thread i said kick down but i was talking about the throttle valve. And i installed the "AOD KICK DOWN" cable kit and installed it exactly as it said. As far as the link you provided the only thing different was the return spring. I dont think thats the issue since line pressure returns to 0 when at idle. But i will give it shot. Thanks
Hey this is off your problems but im gonna have the same problem ive done the same thing you have
I went from efi to carb
But my tranny was bolted up to a carbed motor before so im hoping to just be fine
But i was curious of what you all did in the switch you did

Well it turned out i spent so much time adjusting the tv cable it burnt it up so its being rebuilt right now. So it IS important to get the adjustment right asap. As far as what tips the whole project went really easy. After i replace the intakes i purchased a HEI distributor designed for the swap
Then i bout the Lokar kickdown kit and bracket for the AOD

The hei distributor is huge so u will have to buy an off set air cleaner base so it will clear the distributor.
Buy a low pressure pump and an aftermarket fuel pump relay. You can connect fuel line straight to the pump in the tank but will need to kill power to the pump in the tank so it wont run.
Other than that most time was spent ripping useless junk off.
Oh, i went ahead an purchased a consistent pressure valve body from TCI for the transmission which will eliminate make the mistake of adjusting the cables wrong again. They will still need to be hooked up to shift.
Good luck.
