Why doesn't Ford fix Sync4 ?
I want to like my 2022 XLT with Sync4, but it is just so annoying it's hard. I wish I had Sync3 from my 2017. The things below are just the ones that annoy me most often.
1. I hook up one of my trailers, and it makes sense that I have to tell it which one. I pull forward and shut the truck off so I can load. When I restart, if I'm not paying attention to the screen to tell it that I'm still hooked to the same trailer that the truck KNOWS I didn't disconnect from, it changes to "Default trailer". Why would you do this Ford? Sync3 didn't do this to me. This is dangerous as setting are different for my different trailers.
2. When towing, I get warnings (tones) from Navigation. I cannot shut them off because I don't have access to settings page without paying for the Navigation. I really don't need to be told 20 times going through Des Moines that there are weight restrictions on Interstate 80.
3. Literally half the time the + button doesn't do anything for the reverse camera. There is no pattern I can figure out to make it work. I makes the tone when I touch it, it just doesn't do anything.
4. Upon restart, the main display always goes to Apple Carplay instead of the screen I was on.
5. The audio may be on or may be off upon restart. Seems like it should be however I left it.
If it's me, LMK what I'm doing wrong.
If anybody at Ford actually used the system before they pushed it out to the customer they would have seen this stuff too. Ford is so proud of the OTA update capabilities of this truck, why not use it to fix the issues?

I just got to drive a transit with sync 3 in England. Ok it's no F150, it had a small diesel engine, stick shift, stop start ( thankfully a shut off button to). But many features like adaptive cruise worked the same.
based on 900 miles driving with sync 3, it's awful, and I wouldn't want it.

Got 3 it in my 17' Focus RS and wife's 17' Edge SEL and I think it works great. I DO NOT use android auto or apple carplay in them though. Certainly 3 is no Sync 4 as in the F150, but they work fine. I do check for updates every 6 months, I have never updated the maps on the Focus and did it once in 22 for the Edge. Cameras work as they should, music on a thumb drive and they play the playlists great, no sync issues with the phones....
For context, I've had Fords with Sync going back to 07' with the original Microsoft platform. My opinion, Ford has done a great job of evolving telemetrics in a mobile environment. They were one of the first, and in the early days, caught crap from consumer magazines cause they and other users were too damn stupid to learn the syntax that the system required, you're not talking to a human and people don't remember that.
The Sync 4 in the F150 is light years ahead of the other iterations, is it perfect, no, but is any other technology OS. Give credit where credit is due, Ford has done a good job of pushing this tech forward in the industry, and has a high degree if integration, my opinion, just go and try to find better end to end integration. If you don't like it, don't use it and push buttons and twist *****, they still put them there.....

Not a Sync fan at all but the Sync 4 was the best. That's not saying much. Seems like mine would stay on whatever I was listening to on restarts. Look at settings for carplay it might be set to default to that. My Camaro was going to Android auto on starts. 8 found that it was set as default in settings. Now it goes to the siriusxm station I was playing when it was shut down. Never had trailer issues as long as it was properly plugged in.

Mine does zero of those things and I tow often with a single saved trailer. I never use CarPlay though and do have full Nav.
Totally understandable why someone would be annoyed by those things and Sync 4 in general.

Never bothered with any of that trailer stuff. I had to help my bil move a trailer a few times. Just hooked it up and dragged it around. Never used any nannies. I'm done towing anything personally now. No more classic cars or hotrods to take around the country.
Do you actively select a trailer when you hook up, or do you use "default trailer"?
