Yeah I don't use the backup assist. I set up the trailers because I have two of my own and they have different brake settings. I should be able to tell it which trailer I'm pulling without it changing it on me. Every time I stop for gas, arrive at destination, etc. it will change the active trailer if I don't wait for the message to pop up on the display and tell it I'm still pulling the same trailer.

I select my trailer. I only ever have to do it once that first time though and it will stick even after a truck reboot or overnight as long as I don’t unhook.

…. or maybe it prompts me when I fire it back up. I think that’s what it does, but it’s easy you just select ‘yes’ to use last trailer selection.

I can always tell if my trailer isn’t selected because then my BLIS will disable itself. With my trailer selected it works fine. This has only happened when I don’t initially select my trailer when I hook up.

Mine prompts, but if I'm not looking at the screen it disappears after a few seconds and goes to the default trailer.

Gotcha. I think mine does the same on both.

I use apple car play, not sync. Works fine. I have an iPhone, not an android, if that matters. Also I have yet to tow, some of the questions seems pretty nit picky. At least car play over bluetooth or wireless works reliably, which is more than I can say for some other vehicles, including my wife's Kia.

Sync4 is the entire infotainment system. If you are using Carplay or Android Auto you are using Sync.

Maybe they are nitpicky - but if it's a wonderful system that can be updated, it should be easy to fix. Why have a "+" button to zoom on the hitch when backing up if it isn't going to work reliably? Accepting crappy execution because we want to like what we spent $60k on doesn't make sense. I don't consider changing my trailer when I'm not looking to be nitpicking however. This is a legitimate safety issue.

1. I hook up one of my trailers, and it makes sense that I have to tell it which one. I pull forward and shut the truck off so I can load. When I restart, if I'm not paying attention to the screen to tell it that I'm still hooked to the same trailer that the truck KNOWS I didn't disconnect from, it changes to "Default trailer". Why would you do this Ford? Sync3 didn't do this to me. This is dangerous as setting are different for my different trailers.

2. When towing, I get warnings (tones) from Navigation. I cannot shut them off because I don't have access to settings page without paying for the Navigation. I really don't need to be told 20 times going through Des Moines that there are weight restrictions on Interstate 80.

3. Literally half the time the + button doesn't do anything for the reverse camera. There is no pattern I can figure out to make it work. I makes the tone when I touch it, it just doesn't do anything.

4. Upon restart, the main display always goes to Apple Carplay instead of the screen I was on.

5. The audio may be on or may be off upon restart. Seems like it should be however I left it.

If it's me, LMK what I'm doing wrong.

If anybody at Ford actually used the system before they pushed it out to the customer they would have seen this stuff too. Ford is so proud of the OTA update capabilities of this truck, why not use it to fix the issues?
What version of Sync 4 do you have?

I don't have any of the issues you described. Sync4 is not perfect by any means, but when I pick a trailer, it stays on that trailer until I disconnect it. My big issue was that Sync would always forget how long my trailer was for the BLIS, I'd have to reprogram it every time I connected my trailer. Since the latest Sync4 update, that is now fixed. I'm on version 4.2.4 according to my FordPass app.

I can understand that these things are very frustrating for you.

My app doesn't tell me the software version. My truck won't connect to my router - not sure if that is why.

My screen says this:

One thing that really aggravates me about Sync 4, is that if your phone gets out of range once it's connected to Android Auto, it will not re-establish connection once you're back in the truck. You have to completely kill it/open the door and then close it and start the truck back up to get it to reconnect. This is extremely annoying for those situations where you have to run back in the house and grab something etc.

My screen says this:
That's a quite old version of Sync 4 for these trucks. Next time you're in for regular service have them take a look at why you're not getting updates.
