As of this past Friday I've had my truck six weeks. Overall I love this truck. First Ford I have ever owned. Also this past Friday I picked my truck back up from the dealer who ceramic coated it. The truck was parked in the direct sun and shined beautifully. Except for that little spot...
Can you see it this way?
Can you see it that way?
How about now???
Yes... my Agate Black Platinum F150 has an Antimatter Blue cheek. Thankfully when I saw it I was with my sales guy and he saw it himself. In fact when he went to get the service manager four other people came out to see it. None of them have seen this in the entirety of their car sales careers. Dealer is replacing it and going to attempt to charge Ford for it. I don't care who pays for it as long as it gets fixed.
So far this is the only problem or anomaly with the truck. Just thought I'd share.
I haven't seen a two tone unless its a king ranch but I know you can order a XLT and Lariat in in a two tone but it depends on your trim level the XLT the secondary color can only be Carbonized Grey, for Lariat its Stone Grey. Good thing it is only cosmetic and still drivable. Maybe you should keep it and tell people its a 2021 Limited Edition model.
You have The Chosen One. Fix it at your own peril. You have been warned. : )
How can that even happen? That part must not be on the truck when it gets painted. If it was an out-of-sequence part on the assembly line, I wonder how many went through and all got wrong color parts.
As I mentioned I am not fixing it. Dealer has ordered the part, will paint it, let it cure then ceramic coat it and schedule install. Probably 6-8 weeks. They are fixing it.
No one seems to know how that can happen. All we know is that it came like that. Easily missed since it needs direct light to really see it. When I picked it up it was night so I missed it that day too. As long as it gets fixed by someone other than me I don't care.
I bet with the way supply has been this last year there are a lot of strange things happening that might get missed.

If they fix it, I think they get the curse on them. Not sure on the rules for such things. After they fix it, it might be a good idea to run a Catholic Priest around it a couple of times with some Holy Water (soft, of course) just to make sure there aren't any ongoing issues.
Kind of surprises me, but I'm not happy with quality control at all on paint job. They got red on my stone gray bottom. Another defect (not pictured) I elected to leave as is. Dealer had to fix this on mine, can't believe it wasn't seen somewhere during inspections. But, in the end its a truck, so I didn't get too upset.
That is wild that it made it all the way to a customer without being spotted. Wow. Very interesting. I'll admit my 501a Powerboost that is anti-matter blue and stone grey two tone has its fair share of paint defects. I think I've counted 6 good bubbles and 2 drips in the paint and I swear there's some unevenness in it. I'd like to take a depth meter to it soon. I plan on taking it to Adams Polishes in Denver to get a paint correction and glaze seal to make it a bit more robust for winter but they recommended waiting at least 90-120 days before doing that.
