I get this message every time i turn off my truck, EVERYTIME! It would not be an issue if it didn't disable being able to start the truck from FordPass. I get this error whether i started by pushing the button, or remote start from the fob. I know I've seen this topic before but we all know how well the search feature is, even using google to search the forum yielded me no luck.
Anyone know how to fix this? Checked and there are no pending updates. Truck has never had a problem starting when pushing button or starting from fob.
Just had this happen in a "lots of bells and whistles" older car but it may be the same thing. Displays the same message. It is the battery. You may have got a bad one that has failed in its first year.
- Drive 30+ minutes to charge the battery each time you use the truck, and use it often. Avoid running errands, driving a few minutes, shopping for 10 minutes, then again and again. 30 minutes or more or you're not going to charge the battery enough to recharge it.
- Install a Battery Tender. I had this problem in my 2013 in the second winter, and this is what the Service Manager recommended, and he was right.
Countless people have this issue, replace the battery (many without even testing it), and then have it again months or a year later. Many don't understand these trucks don't have a "radio", they have a Sync system with a massive screen and lots of modules that are powered on at various times.
Have the dealership test the battery, and you'll see I'm likely right.

I had this problem and it turned out to be a bad cell in the battery causing it not to charge properly, Had battery replaced and problem went away.
I’ve had this problem since I bought the truck. There’s another thread on this. Ford is “supposed” to come out with another update to solve this problem. But have not seen it yet. There was an update for this last summer but did not solve the problem. As mentioned, the battery gets depleted easily with all the bells and whistles and the “ minder” starts shutting off modules.I can tell when my battery gets low. First the Ps door handle locks quit, dome lights quit and if it goes another day I get the same message. The battery has been tested numerous times and always comes back as good.
so…unless you drive your truck every day for a good distance, the problem will persist.
You can try the BMS reset and see if that fixes the issue. I was getting low 12v warning and dead battery on occasion ever since owning the truck. Just did the reset last week and no issues since. It's a simple procedure so wouldn't hurt to see if it works for you.
1) Put it on a battery tender so the battery stays charged; you likely aren't driving the truck enough to keep the battery fully charged.
2) Disconnect the BMS plug from the negative side of the battery so that you revert to the alternator charging all of the time like they used to; of course this also disables some of the other "gee whiz" BMS features.
3) Take it to the dealer, get your issue documented, and make them deal with it. Their first step should be to test the battery to see if it has a bad or weak cell that is only allowing the battery to hold surface voltage, without any current carrying capability.
I personally would start with #3. #1 is probably the reason you have the issue, so I would hook up one of my battery tenders to keep the battery topped off. I do this in the Winter with my C6 Corvette convertible, when it only gets driven occasionally. A side benefit of using a battery tender is that your batteries will tend to last longer.
