sync 4 reboot while driving
This morning on highway . Listening to Pandora.
sync 4 shut off entire center stack . Went blank.
I waited a few seconds, about 10 , then pressed volume button. Took another 45 to 60 seconds to cone back on and reload everything.
really weird. Is this normal

It is not. If it starts to happen regularly, the APIM will need to be replaced most likely. Has it done an update that you noticed recently, or the dealer done one?
I shut off the truck, waited a second, and started back up and it worked fine.
It acted like it was restarting after an update, but I have no idea what was really going on.
That was the 1st and only time it has done that in 4 months.
it had an update the day before we picked ii up but the sync screen shows sync 4 version 21297 revision 253
which is a 2021 update and does not reflect the newest update, but he trucks indicates its up to date
i ran forscan a bit ago and no dtc

Mine locked up on me once and shutting it down did not resolve it. I couldn’t do anything at all. I shut the truck off for 15 minutes and started it back up and all was well. That’s the only issue I had with sync so far.
And the truck telling you it's up to date has no bearing on whether or not it's at THE latest version of software. It's not that cut & dry.
Each "version" of Power-Up software can update anywhere from one to many different modules and can provide fixes, new features, or just be PART of multiple updates required for something (e.g., BlueCruise requires 6 different updates that touch upwards of ~18 different modules). The last/most current version update is 22095_PRODUCT Revision: 421(2.8.3). You can take a look at the Power-Up version history here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_P...ersion_History

I would not be surprised if those that can/are being applied WITHOUT a stationary vehicle would reboot a module, even if you are driving. They are, after all, mobile computers.
My main dash display on my 2021 Lariat went totally dead for about 2 minutes while I was driving to pick someone up at Pearson Airport last Wednesday May 11th. Amazingly 2 days later I was returning to the airport again and it did it again on the exact same ramp on the highway, probably within 100 meters of where it did it the first time 2 days earlier. It's insane.
