I hope someone can help me. My truck has a software update for the GWM that won’t go through. I have FDRS, when I try and run the update it goes to a login screen, I enter my login info and the update fails to download. The dealer had my truck for 3 days and couldn’t figure it out. Right now my GPS, mobile hotspot and FordPass app don’t work.

Ok, firstly, your truck does not have TRON, so don't bother with that. It seems this issue has been going on for a while. Based on your OTA history, the GWM OTA has failed several times between February and today. However, because your TCU is not working, I am unable to see any codes the truck may be reporting. Post screenshots of the codes it is reporting.

Also, to make sure I understand correctly: You login into FDRS and go to the software updates tab. When you run the GWM, it takes you back to the same login screen and then gives you a failed to download error? Please post a screenshot of exactly what you see when it fails to download.

 

Yes, I login to FDRS go to the SW update tab run the SW update for the GWM and it takes me to a login screen again, it tries to download for a couple seconds then this pops up.

Ok, using FORScan or FDRS, post any codes it may be reporting. Especially GWM and/or TCU codes. Your modem is completely offline, so I am limited as to what I can see on my side. It may just be easier if I get the you the USB files.

Have you opened the USB to see if FDRS put anything in there at all?

 

Oh, I just thought of something you can try. Restart the laptop. Login to FDRS and manually type the VIN in there. Go to the SW updates tab and run the GWM update without being plugged into the truck and lmk if you get the same error.

 

I’m not sure what usb you’re talking about. The modem has been offline for a few months so I think the only way to update it is using usb.
