Default Replace Sirius with....?

In the next few days - in fact, I think it's tomorrow - my trial subscription to Sirius runs out. I've already recieved a letter from them telling me that it will now cost 18.99 per month to keep it.

To quote Ron White: "I don't think so, Scooter"....

To be fair, I've enjoyed Sirius, but not nineteen bucks a month enjoyment.

What are some affordable alternates? How much do they run, and what are your opinions on them?

Call them up and call bullsh1t. They’ll offer you something better.

If you don't call them they will spam call the absolute crap out of you for six months. IT IS HORRIBLE. Let them pester you for a month, then agree to the $5/month plan for 1 year including Stern if you want it. They can grant that if your subscription expired long enough ago.

That sent me an offer when mine was about to expire. With all the charges it is $6/month for 12 months.

I got an offer for $9.99 PER YEAR for up to 3 years for my 2013 Jeep. I still tossed it in the trash. We already have a Spotify subscription that I can use in the truck, so I don’t need Sirius.

As mentioned, just call them. I’ve never paid more than $6/month. Right before subscription is up I call and request the same rate. No issues, they just do it. My brother has been using them for years and has that rate for lifetime. They just charge his card once a year.

Stern sucks now so Im glad I bought a lifetime subscription in 2005. There is some other good content on Sirius but not worth paying subscription for.

After my trial I got a year @$5 a month that I signed up for.
I dumped it after the year as they were looking for $24 a month to keep what I had. Not worth it.

I would not be sorry if I got an f150 with XM deleted.

so for now it’s a mix of free Spotify and music I already have on my IPhone.

My wife enjoys satellite radio but recently gave it up. She was able to get $5/mo for a couple years, then they increased her rate to $20/mo without telling her. Keeping a lower price requires calling once a year and telling them you "aren't sure you want to keep it". Customer retention will keep reducing the price until you are happy, but if you only listen to a couple stations and none of them are part of a premium/upgrade package, they are more willing to negotiate. That said, she misses The Highway, but lives without it happily knowing she's saving a bit of cash and they can no longer "randomly" increase her rate (I say that with quotes because obviously its not random and she could have made a calendar reminder to do so, but alas, I am sure I am preaching to the choir).

Many moons ago (15-20yrs ago?), my Father did a lot of traveling for his job. He decided to purchase the "lifetime" subscription that was offered. He always had a company car that was swapped out every 2 years or so, so he had to call and fight them to transfer the service to the next car. They always did, but gave him grief about the subscription fine print reading "lifetime for the ownership of the car its originally assigned to", or some bologna along those lines. He was quite pleased when the people won the lawsuit a couple years ago and continues to enjoy his "free" subscription.

Me, I've enjoyed the free couple months of subscription that a couple of my vehicle purchases came with. Always let them lapse and turn on Pandora. Been using Pandora for many years, so the "algorithm" has figured out my likenesses. My '22 was stripped of satellite radio, so I don't have the option anyway, but don't mind in the least to be honest.

They turned mine back on free after a couple months for a while and later sent a 1$ month offer. Hear it is hard to cancel after they have your
cc#. I just listen to FM.
