Did a search for this topic in all forums but no luck. My remote start from key fob on my new 2024 Platinum only works if I’m standing only a few feet from the truck. With my previous 2018 F150 Lariat I could activate remote start from inside my house with the car at least 50’ away in the driveway.
Anyone else experienced this?

 

Mine (2023) work from inside the house or at reasonably long distances. Just used it this AM from the back yard when the truck was inside the garage.

 

Ya that's not right, my truck responds to my remote from living room 100' across drive inside a metal pole barn. I saw your other post, I hope you don't have some electronic gremlins going on.

 

Now it only worked once in about 10 tries standing about 10’ from the truck. And the horn beeps when I press the remote start button twice.
Guess it’s time to take my brand new Platinum to the dealer. And of course when I do they’ll say everything is working fine.
How frustrating. Should have kept my 2018 Lariat.

 

Have you tried both key fobs?

 

Yes, and replaced the batteries in both. Still no luck. I sat inside the truck and it worked twice in a row. But then when I left the truck it stopped working again. Double checked all settings under vehicle and everything is set correctly. Valet mode off, remote start enabled. But if something was set wrong it wouldn’t be intermittent. It wouldn’t work at all. Thanks.

 

Thought I had remote start problems with my 2024. Turned out to be cockpit error.

Discovered remote start requires press lock button…then remote start button twice. Fires up every time now.

Can you start it with the Fordpass App from a distance? If the truck is connecting to the internet for OTA updates you should be able to start it from most anywhere with the Fordpass App.

Sounds like an issue with the receiver antenna, which I do not know where it is located, might not be hooked up if you are only able to start at short range.

Mine will remote start with the FOB at quite some distance.

 

Betting on the truck battery being low.

 

Not only does remote start using the Fordpass app have absolutely nothing to do with your (WiFi) connection to the internet, neither do OTA updates. All is done via the TCU/modem that uses the cellular network. There has only been one OTA delivered via WiFi, and that was to address issues with the TCU/modem.

12/4/2024 EDIT: OP never said in his first post that "... remote fob start continues to only work twice after a normal start-stop sequence ..." Otherwise, my (this) post would have indicated that this was SOP.
