Remote start
The remote fob start continues to only work twice after a normal start-stop sequence. Here’s Chat GPT’s answer. Seems to fit the issue, and there’s nothing in the electronic manual about this behavior as described by me and below:

My question to Chat GPT: The autostart from my fob only works twice after I started and shutoff the engine in my Ford F150 using the normal start and stop button method. After the 2nd remote start, it won’t work again until I start and stop the engine normally. Is this normal?

ChatGPTYes, this behavior can be normal for some Ford F-150 models, especially those with the Ford remote start feature. The issue you’re describing could be related to a feature designed to prevent potential issues with the engine or battery. Here's why:- Safety and Battery Protection: Many vehicles, including Fords, limit the number of consecutive remote starts to avoid excessive strain on the battery and ensure the engine is properly cycled. After a remote start, the system may require the engine to be turned off and restarted using the normal ignition (button or key) to reset the sequence and prevent potential overheating or unnecessary fuel consumption.
- Ford's Remote Start System: Typically, Ford's remote start system allows for two consecutive starts without turning the engine on and off using the key/button. After that, the system often requires a regular start to "reset" the sequence.
How to Test:
- If you turn the engine on and off normally (via the start/stop button), and the remote start works again for two more times, it further suggests that this is just part of the system's intended design.
Possible Solutions/Workarounds:
- Check the Vehicle Manual: Look up the remote start section to see if Ford specifies a limitation on consecutive starts. Some models or settings might have this behavior outlined.
- Software Updates or Settings: If you feel this is a malfunction or something abnormal, there might be a software update or specific setting (through your Ford Sync system) that adjusts the behavior of remote start. Consider visiting a dealership for diagnostics or support.
- Battery Health: If your vehicle’s battery is older or not at full charge, the system might be more cautious about consecutive starts to protect the battery from excessive drain.
Thanks for the pic. I was surprised when I picked up the new 2024 truck that no paper manual was included. Wasn’t happy at all with that. And I guess this is why. I searched thru everywhere I could think of on the electronic manual, and nothing like this statement was there.
Thanks again.

Did a search for this topic in all forums but no luck. My remote start from key fob on my new 2024 Platinum only works if I’m standing only a few feet from the truck. With my previous 2018 F150 Lariat I could activate remote start from inside my house with the car at least 50’ away in the driveway.
Anyone else experienced this?
