Default Pricing Question

So maybe someone can answer this for me

At what point is pricing locked in when you order? Is pricing locked in at the time Ford accepts the order? At the time VINs are assigned? Or at the time of build and final invoice to the dealer?

So if I already had my vin, would the $1500 increase from the 15th be added to it upon being built?

Asking since the dealer is saying that final price is upon production and invoice generation.

Just getting a bit concerned with that verbiage

I built online. Sent build to dealer. They sent me build back with the invoice pricing on it. We agreed to a price. I signed build sheet. They sent me an email confirming our deal with specs and price. Waited a long time for it to come in.

Yea I was sent that sheet too, but then this was said during conversation.

I am really curious about this as well. My dealer said that his price was not locked until a VIN was issued and that the VIN would also determine factory incentives. I tried getting a purchase agreement to no avail. I did get them to clearly state in an email the basis of pricing, in this case its X-plan and I had the sales manager clearly state in another email that there are no other dealer add-ons or fees outside of the 100 doc fee. I talked to 4 other dealers and none other would agree to X plan and the other one that would do it ads $1500 dealer installed BS options, and it also would also not provide a signed purchase agreement. Very frustrating waiting and knowing that its going to be a hassle down the line.

Built mine in mid Oct. when my dealer received 2022 pricing. When the "build your own" finally came out on line, the price had gone up around $600 for my build. I paid what was on my order in Oct. Now, I see the price is going up again. I would think when Ford sends you confirmation, your price is locked in.

Price is locked in when you sign the build sheet, dealer sends it to Ford and it's confirmed. As long as you don't go changing your build after that if there have been price changes....you are locked on price. Yes...available incentives at the time of delivery would move your price DOWN...not up.

Read somewhere if the vehicle is invoiced prior to the increase date it would not be affected.

Now if your one of the ***** nilly types that cannot make up your mind on your build and have to tweak this and tweak that game on.

That little tweak may just have cost you a lot more $$$$$$$$. As in a NEW invoice price has to be generated.

Most, if not all, dealers will not give you a literal purchase agreement until they have the vehicle. If the vehicle never materializes, you would be able to use them for breach of contract.

So I guess that’s the big question, at what point is it invoiced? I didn’t make any changes to mine as I was pretty set on what I wanted, and a Plat High pretty much has all the bells and whistles

i saw on another post last night that Chapman has a similar statement they give to people that buy through them.

I was just under the assumption that once you signed the doc, placed the order and it was accepted by Ford that that price was then locked in unless you make changes

I believe it is locked in when the order is placed. My dealer told me incentives were either what was in effect when ordered, or when delivered, whichever I prefer. Obviously, we choose the best deal.
