Default Dealer Add On's

I ordered a F-150 King Ranch online in early December, went by dealer to meet salesman and just see where the build was. He was able to give vin # and confirm price but started talking about some add on item required by Ford, such window tint, anti-theft items and some other things. Are the items actually mandated to be done by Ford?

Ford will not force an upgrade they don’t offer from the factory. The window tint, lift kits, wheel packages, and paint packages are just dealer add ons to fatten the profit margin. I would call bs on that dealer and take my money elsewhere if they do not remove them.

I would slowly walk away....no, RUN away from that Dealer....immediately! It's sophistry to upsell you on dealer stuff.

Go to the manager in charge and state you need no upgrades to your order.

See where it takes you.

Your a custom order and there is a supposed VIN.

Re-ordering somewhere else you start the process all over again along with the added 2 price increases makes it well worth trying.

This is the text out of the memo from Ford to the dealers:

PRICE PROTECTION
2022 model units invoiced prior to February 15, 2022 will not be re-invoiced.
Automatic price protection will be provided on:
• Firm 2022-model fleet, retail, and demonstrator orders signed and dated on or before February
14, 2022, and received by Ford Motor Company on or before February 18, 2022.

• Fleet CPA or GPC orders will continue to be price protected to the individual customer’s contract
agreement or bid date.

What's the remedy if the dealer insists you pay the price increases even though you are price protected? I ordered 7-2-21. My truck is in transit and the dealer insists I pay the 22 price increase as well as the 2-15-22 price increase, even though I've provided proof that I am price protected. I'm a full time attorney and a part time judge. I know the law very well. I can easily file suit for breach of contract and win, but I will lose my truck and have to start all over again. So am I to eat the $3000 or so price increase? Is there an internal remedy available through Ford? I don't want to let these guys get away with gouging me, but I also don't want to lose the truck that I've waited 9 months to get.

Well you are the attorney here, but I would suggest that a discussion with the manger, and then the owner if necessary, explaining that you can easily file suit and it won't cost you out of pocket to do so. Of course you would be looking for damages and attorney fees. Damages would be the cost increase incurred from starting a new order at a higher price from another dealership. They are business people so it would seem they could do the math pretty well and would likely proceed with the order in the proper manner.
