Default Price Increases After Ordering

Hello all,

Good news, my truck is finally arriving!

Bad news, the dealership contacted me and said that they would have to pass on an increase on invoice cost that happened after I ordered (January). Is that typical, does placing your order not lock in your pricing?

Happy to be joining the club, regardless!

The dealership is conning you. Ford has made it clear there's price protection.

that dealership is crooked,. let them know you will be contacting ford and leaving a bad review online. Ford didn't raise the price the dealer is paying.

My dealer told me I was locked in at the price agreed-to when I placed my order. I asked him directly about it when Ford had another increase recently.

No, don’t do this. All it does is make sure the dealer sells your truck to someone else at a juicy markup. A little restraint goes a long way here.

Send your sales guy the Ford memo that spells out price protection for retail (custom) orders. Politely inform them that you’re paying the price quoted at time of order. Do NOT make veiled threats or escalate into a confrontation. If they’re ignorant of the policy, they have what they need to honor the price. If they know what they’re doing, they’ll recognize you do too. Ford penalizes dealers that fail to deliver a certain percentage of retail orders to the same person who placed them. The dealer has some incentive to make sure you buy this truck if you’re not an *******.

Whatever you signed is the price period.

This. You attract bees with honey...not ****. I wish people would understand that aggressively escalating anything never works.

Aggressively escalating the situation always works for me,no one is screwing me over and getting away with it.Money is what makes the world go round, NEVER let anyone take your hard earned money. Dis -honest people prey on suckers. If they try to take advantage of you then its time to double down and make a personal visit to the dealer.

You don’t need to aggressively escalate every situation to reach a resolution. It can trigger standoff-ish behavior from people who otherwise may have helped you. If you go straight for the jugular and it turns out your assumptions were wrong, you come off as a hot-headed moron. Anyone unfazed by this routine may decline to help you out of spite.

My reply referred to a dealer who is trying to screw you over, seriously doubt the dealer was trying to help him. I agree, dont ever go for the juglar, unless you know you are in the right. Then be an Alpha dog.
