Default OBD Extension?

I currently have my dash cam connected to the OBD plug using this adapter:

Amazon Amazon

I am considering changing my auto insurance that will require a plug in module that will attach to the obd plug; does anyone know an adapter that will allow both items to be plugged into the OBD??

Thanks

Please don’t allow an insurance company to track your driving habits

Agreed. It's not worth the $100 annual savings for them to check your vehicle and see that you were going 1MPH over the speed limit at the time of an accident and not accept your claim.

Overall a slippery slope in terms of freedom in general.

"Black box" type devices in many vehicles have been recording that for years, and nearly every vehicle built since 2018 has one. Further, you can try to lie about how fast you were going, but in the you can't fool physics nor most accident reconstructionists.

And that high dollar mobile phone you carry with you keeps track of lots of things (speed, acceleration, location, etc.), so don't think for a moment the insurance company or LE won't try to get a hold of those records if needed.

That said, I don't personally know of anyone who has been denied a claim due to 1 MPH over the prima facie speed limit. I do know of claims that were denied because people were traveling 85 in a 55, and the insurance companies and law enforcement didn't need black boxes to determine speed in those cases.

When I was younger, I used to drive like a fool at times, and wasted lots of money on tickets and excess insurance premiums. I eventually found that it's a lot less expensive and a lot less stressful to simply obey the law.

For the record, I don't have any insurance company dongles in my vehicles, nor would I actively add one to save a few dollars.

State Farm and other Ins agents have teamed up with Ford and already have access to the data Ford collects about us.

The "slippery Slope" is way away in the rear view mirror

And that's what I get for trusting internet strangers

So no, they don't have access to our driving habits, but you know it's coming....

I save about $1,300 a year. And they are forbidden by law to deny your claim, even if you were drunk and mowed down a family, they have to pay anyway.
