Default New windshield

Well I was feeling left out … unwanted … not like everybody else. Truck is 13 months old, just past 19k miles … and not a single thing wrong with it. It’s just as good as the day i bought it.

Until today. Snow/ice storm this past weekend. Ha$ a doctors appointment this morning, cleared the snow off the windshield and had the defroster on. Got to the office, sat in the parking lot with the motor running for a few minutes waiting for the door to open. All of a sudden i hear “bink” and there’s a crack in the lower middle of the windshield, about a foot wide. Temp outside was about 25*.

What does a new windshield cost? Are there devices that have to be calibrated?

Generally would be a "comp" claim for act of God, not collision. Supposedly won't count against you as a claim like an accident will.

They all "count against you", make no mistake...just at a different level. To the o.p., expect to pay ~$600 and depending on what your options are, yes...certain things need to be recalibrated but places like SAFELIGHT do this as part of the replacement. If you have some sort of Turnpike/Interstate automatic toll device, they will replace that as well.

Insurance should cover most of it. If in the position I would pay you the extra to get OEM glass not Safelite or aftermarket garbage. Yes, there are cameras and what not that need to be calibrated

How much is covered is determined by the deductible you have on your Comprehensive coverage.

How do you get oem glass? Can you demand it through the glass replacement shop?

Check with your insurance agent first.
