I guess somebody at Ford decided it would be a good idea for the daytime map display to show roads as white against a light gray background, and show highways as VERY thin black lines. Has anyone figured out how to change any of the graphics?
I’m not aware of any setting changes in the nav that would change your colors. Your only option may be to set it to the dark (night) setting always, which looks much nicer in my opinion.

I’m good with the daytime display, but I haven’t used it much for local navigation.
I think the other’s suggestion about nighttime display is helpful
Also, maybe zoom in a little when doing surface street navigation may change the scale you are seeing.
I go full display and zoom in and out depending on what I am trying to see/do.
As a separate issue, I find the clutter (blue box with progress information) in the upper left corner to interfere with the usefulness of the Nav display at any scale.
I haven’t really looked if there are any setting to get rid of that. I mute the system audio at all times as well.
I just want the map, progress bar, traffic and weather.

ive owned 3 new ford vehicles since 2017....in-car infotainment has improved - and until this truck ive never used car play....but ive always used Waze (on my phone). Waze has the advantage with realtime / crowd sourced alerting and mapping that you dont have to pay for and is always up to date.
Im never gonna pay for map updates from ford (or anyone else)....I'm still getting used to Waze on Car Play (the pitch to zoom just isnt there IMO).
I do wish that Waze did weather overlays (thats the only advantage I see in looking at the ford infotainment center maps)...but I'm not going to subscribe to XM or XM weather so I'm find doing w/out.

The Sync 4 doesn’t do weather overlays of the NAV, just the map, so it’s a fail in that regard. Also, since it doesn’t overlay, I would like to use that one user programmable selector button in the middle of the bottom of the screen to call up the weather but it won’t let you.
Actually, that button is pretty useless as they only let you program audio functions and that’s pretty lame. Another programming Fail.
Waze. Years ago it was pretty good and still may be in some areas, but my drive to/from work is 60 miles each way on an interstate. I guess it might be ok on an unfamiliar route.
I can spot a Waze driver a mile away, literally.
They are the ones who are in the left lane slamming on their brakes because at one time in the distant past, there was a cop sitting there.
And if it’s not on Waze, they blow right past the cops without hitting the brakes.
I have been driving this route for 21 years and I know where every cop hangout is and I laugh when people just randomly slam on the brakes in the left lane because of Waze.
Well, maybe I’ll laugh after I swear…
As for paid subscription, if I get updated traffic and weather for what? $80 bucks a year, I’m good with that.
ims till on the free trial, had a crappy TCU for most of that time, but it’s been working for the last week or so since they diddled with it.
my favorite feature of the Nav display is the progress bar on the right that lays out the traffic relative to your progress on the route
Not sure if Waze has anything like that as I deleted the app a few years ago.

Can't tell you how many times Waze has saved me. Especially on I-75 in Georgia where the local cops like to hang out on the on-ramps tagging people as they drive past them.
Make fun of them all you want, seems a tad ignorant. I'm not impressed with the Ford nav, especially for the cost. I will use Waze for free.

I use it - but it's only as good as folk providing input (and keeping things up to date)....it's easy to spot when cops are moving around....you see multiple reports on both sides of the road......*I* take the time to update the data....sounds like you drive a route w/ a bunch of TAKERS instead of contributors.
Waze cant provide you much value since you know the route so well....I suspect you would say that traffic data and re-routing provides no value on your route anyway....so it doesn't work for you....it still works well for lots of folks.
where would you get TRAFFIC data from? XM? or Google/Waze? I see no reason to pay for XM anything...**** poor sound quality (compressed via satellite).
My expedition is still getting weather over lays via XM (again I dont use it, much less rely on it)....again....I dont need it....ive got more current data via cellular smart phone.
Im not paying for a subscription from data thats probably coming from XM or Google/Waze....thats just stupid.

I agree about Waze, I’m not going to rely on the chance that someone may or may not have reported a cop to keep me from getting a ticket. I’ll rely on my Valentine One radar detector for locating cops. As far as navigation I use either Apple Maps or Google Maps, I haven’t used the built in Ford Nav since they wanted to charge me for an update on my 2010 F-150.
