Question JB4 and PowerBoost

Posted this in the Performance area, and got zero response. Looking for anybody who has tried the JB4 on the PowerBoost and impressions. Any issues?

Out of curiosity, what benefits would you expect from running the JB4?

It's supposed to trick the ECU into running more boost by modifying sensor signals. Sounds like a very questionable idea as it could cause other major issues and being as the truck is a hybrid that needs to transmission power between electric and gas, I would think it would cause transition issues.

JB4 is a well respected device, yes it tricks the PCM, but many have had good luck with them for years. It is adjustable. Currently it is the only thing that it available to up power on the PB. LMS hasn't even mentioned doing tuning on the PB, even with several people asking. Trust me I would LOVE to have ZFG tune this thing, but HPT still does not have support for the 21+, and has not mentioned when.

try on n54tech.com and ask in the ford section. Terry, the owner of burger motorsports, is active there.

jb4 has been used on tons of platforms with good results. On my old BMW 335, i ran it exclusively for years on setups ranging from stock to big single turbo. While it currently isnt as advanced as it was on the BMWs, i have no doubt if the community expands for ford, they will improve on it. And if someone would crack the ecu and make it available to the public, its one of the better options.

On the BMW, using the JB4 vs flash tuning, the JB4 was much better at controlling boost and overall, their tunes were more stable. Once the ECU was opened up on the BMWs, using the JB4 to flash on a backend tune to handle more parameters was a game changer.

Technically, its not changing anything in the computer, so the theory is they wont be able to see it. However, i have no real idea as I havent dove in to the ECU to see what kind of parameters it logs and keeps record of.

When is this Star Trek ethics going to stop. We need more power Scotty.

The Power boost was the most powerful stock truck in the F150 line up & still is until the release of the new RaptoR

Drove one for a year and why F up a good system by tricking it to be questionably marginally better.

Then only to ask why oh darn our Lithium Batteries are overheating and exploding or it doesn't go into electric as much any more now that the battery has been internally destroyed.

The power boost battery isn't your throwaway lithium battery pack used for your home tools.

Many tool manufacturers dealt with premature battery failures from guys my size just giving it to the tool.

This is the reason behind the major battery tool manufacturers having better safeties on their tools it is strictly for battery protection.

Done harping.
