Default I hate squirrels

So my truck is 8 months old and lived here for 22 years...the new truck is the first vehicle I have had that squirrels decided to try and build a nest and chewed through wires already! Trying to find this pigtail with the right colors, already found a generic wired pigtail on ebay. Ugh. I imagine if i take it to dealer they will want to replace large sections of the harness for big $.

I had the same issue on my 2018, dealer took pictures and said send it to your insurance company, it was covered, only had to pay the deductible.

A member here said Honda makes a rodent deterrent electrical tape.
Just an fyi as I'm sure we can't wrap our whole truck.

Call your insurance agent, if you have full coverage, this should be covered.

Yeah, i am leaning towards just filing the claim, of course with a $500 deductible, more of an issue of not having truck, getting it to my dealer etc, rental car reimbursement I think only covers half the cost of a rental car. But with it new and not wanting to void warranty along with the chewed wires are close enough to the high voltage powerboost wires I am getting old and lazy....plus its cold outside. I can't believe they chewed up the new truck in the first winter.

I do find it very interesting that my situation is about identical to this one including the white wire on that connector being completely gone.

I recently found that something, I'm assuming mice but could have been a squirrel, has been nibbling on my foam engine cover. I bought some spray from NHOU called NHMouseout. I have yet to apply it but reviews were good. I guess we'll see. First time I have ran into this issue as my trucks have always been garage kept but I am currently parked outside.

Do you have photos of the perps? Squirrels eat nuts, mice eat wires.

I haven't seen a mouse around here in over 20 years, squirrels on the other hand have huge nests in my large maples and are constantly walking under the truck. In 9 years they never bothered my '16 F150, ugh. Oh well, needs to go to dealer for the recalls, an oil change and this to get fixed. Really sucks as the truck only has 6200 miles on it and I ordered on my birthday last year, first vehicle I have ever ordered to my spec.

Squirrels like to chew on plastic. Mice chew wires and insulation.

There were full pieces of leaves piled in that area that I would not expect a mouse to have carried up there, I have witnessed squirrels carrying full size corn cobs, stripped down across the yard and leave them laying around. I really don't think mice are the problem, its a larger animal.
