I agree about the noise.

I have owned 20 cars or so over the years and dealt with many issues. So I don’t thing I am just hearing things.

I do have an appointment next month for a key fob program.

will call and see if I can add that to my visit.

I know the truck will be down at least for the time it will take them to figure out what’s going on.

F150s from at least from 2015 are known to have a bad front diff on occasion.

Contacted the dealer I bought it from.

They are actually going to help.

They are sending a tow truck tomorrow morning to my house to take the truck down to the Ford dealer they work with.

Will provide me with a loaner as well.

I will be sending the old fluid I took out down with the truck.

Will update the thread as I know more.

Since it was used and no warranty I thought I would try to figure it out myself.

Changed wheel hubs but nope

Thought maybe IWE but sound never goes away in 2 wheel or 4 wheel.

I decided to change the diff fluid just to see what it looks like.

Lots of metal in the fluid so I think a rebuild of the front diff is in order.

Pretty sad since I just bought it and this is definitely a pre existing situation.

Saved old fluid just incase anyone would like to see it but yeah 😢

When did you buy it and how many miles were on it when you bought it?

8-25-24

47000

Thought I heard something the next day but thought no way.

Then after driving it a few more times. I definitely heard some noise and started researching what I could be.

Sucks to throw parts at the powertrain when it's under warranty -- Hope it works out for you.

This is what the gear oil in my front diff looked like at 18K when one of the carrier bearings had started to fail.

Thanks for the picture.

Dod you hear some sounds?

Yeah mine seem to have a lot in the oil as well

Something has to be going on inside there.

The dealer put a stop to the deal they had made with me. Saying they had to wait for the manager to get back Wednesday.

I did go ahead and make another appointment with another Ford dealer just incase they decide not to help me after all.

Either way it should be covered under the 5 year 60k powertrain.

At the point that picture was taken I did not hear any unusual noise and I was very surprised by the damage I found. The driver's side carrier bearing was pitted and had started to damage the differential housing as seen below.
