Anybody use the OBDLink MX+? Looking at their website I don't know which is best. I like the idea of not having to drag a laptop out to the truck, especially since my battery no longer powers like new. I'd rather use my tablet.
Laptop is the way to go plug it into the plug in your truck I think tablet and phones use a lite version of Forscan

I haven't received that one yet? Maybe tomorrow or just for certain F150s. But thank you for sharing.

It’s an easy mod for those of us with the tools already.

There may also be a setting in the GWM to configure but for now this works fine.
Thank you so much for this wonderful Forscan information, as well as, your Ford manual uploads. These are very useful, and I now have these saved in my truck folder. I want to give a shout out to you and everyone else on this forum that have contributed to current date. This is truly amazing.

I don't think you mentioned it in your post or your YouTube video, but for all the US based Powerboost trucks we will see the value 4 showing for our trucks, and the only US type value that appeared to be the counterpart was value 0, so this is what I went with. Unplugged the alert module under the passenger side dash cover, and let her rip pure silence.

I had previously unplugged the speaker, but had plugged it back in because I was bringing in to ford. Didn't want them trying to fix something that wasn't broken =)

This is a 100% fix for the annoying pedestrian alert system and backup beeper, with no errors on my truck on dash or in Forscan. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Completely new to the Forscan concept here although I've had seven fords before....so, is Forsan a "fan developed" software? are dealers trained to use it, or independent mechanics ( I suppose for the latter, if they like Ford they may, up to them). I don't expect to have to learn it until some electronics gone seriously wrong... the only and first re-calibration anticipated is speedometer after tire size increase, but I suppose the dealer or any mechanic can do that with non-Forscan tools?

Ford and dealers have their own proprietary system. Forscan is a third party developed software. Dealers are not trained to use it, independents MAY be individuals who have a desire to learn how to use it for their own use because it is free compared to the expensive Ford product. Most if not all independent shops will all be using Fords product called IDS, IMO.

I use the MX+ 98% of the time. I use it with my iPhone for the mobile version of FORSCAN for monitoring, and with my Laptop for making changes. I have the EX(Hard Wired USB) for when I am doing things like updating the Firmware on an APIM. Pretty much everything else I use the MX+. The MX+ works with Laptops, iDevices, and Android. Can only change settings though using a Laptop. If you are doing just normal small edits, and also want something to use with the portable version, do the MX+, you won't regret it.

How is it possible to update firmware with the EX? If that were the case everyone would be getting this instead of this

You can update the firmware with the ex in forscan. There is a version of forscan around that allows firmware updating but its not out for public access. To use FDRS you need the adapter you linked but can also use it with forscan.

The Ford Power Up 2.4.1 is also available now through FDRS as a GWM update.
