Default DIY Cheap Bed Lights

Hello, has anyone installed a simple 12v light strip in their bed and tied it into the power wire going to the existing bed light? My hope is that the $15 LED strip lights come on with the OEM bed light.

Yes. Alternatively, you can mount a rocker switch in one of the three holes in the bed walls on each side of the tailgate and draw switched power from your trailer light circuit by the hitch.

Yes, absolutely!
I installed Amazon-bought LED strips on both sides, and soldered the wires to the power switch of factory (almost useless) factory bed light, and it works well. I find it a very practical upgrade.

Did you connect to the wires going into the bed light or into the switch?

I did both, but I think you can connect directly to bed light

I went the Harbor Freight route. Bought a Roadshock 12V LED (2 to a pack). These installed on the plastic covers where the stock lights would mount. Installed a switch on the plastic cover where the stock on/off switch would go. Ran the power wire up to the battery, with a fuse.
