My 2022 XLT V8 has 220 miles today, picked it up last Friday after a 3 month wait for production. This gen of V8 is the most "civil" I've had. I've had a 2014 V8 mustang, two 2008 V8 mustangs and a 2015 and 2016 V8 F150, but this 2022 is quiet and on pulling out of drive way, it always has that electric car/electric forklift type of whine, not loud, but 1. there's no more V8 exhaust rumble on starting, and 2. the whole truck kind feels like it either has a turbo or it's electric...I wonder if I even has a V8 under the hood. I wonder if any 2021 and 22 owners feel the same.

This is all encouraging. I'm hoping these motors will be successful. FCA threatening to discontinue the hemi, and we will need to have a reliable v-8 for non-boosted, reliable power.

I know the feeling. The fans hardly ever even run. And, when they do they are quite quiet too.

Even with my factory exhaust I could hear it . And I'm hearing tested every year, I have the papers to prove that I can't hear well. Lol.

And those 08 mustang were 4.6 cars. Different engine and a complete dog by comparison. I have one

I have a 4.6 F150 my son drives and although maybe a dog in performance they are a workhorse in reliability. There are literally millions of them on the road today running reliably. We still have a bunch of them at work running strong in service vans. You got to think back when that motor came out the emissions choked V8 weee only pushing at or less than 200 hp

Yep. Hence the "dog" comment. Lol. Amazing too that my new 5.0 super crew gets better mileage than my light weight 03 mustang gets with its 280 hp and 5 speed.

200 miles almost all uphill. And hauling 5 people and luggage. With a crap load of idling time to boot. Id guess an hour and a half of idling or more. (Warming up and 2 school pickup lines) . My mustang can't beat 18 on that same route with just me in it. It's a notoriously bad for fuel economy route.

we have 3 other Ford and a 15 duramax that get single digits on that same road. my 6 speed rubicon gets around 14 on it. Ive said before that my truck may be the exception on mpg. Somebody has to be the lucky one. And it's my turn dang it. Of my 7 other vehicles NONE average 20 anywhere. And that's including 2 6 cylinders that were SUPPOSED to be economical and 3 mustang. The mustang are all manual trans and can get just over 20 IF you are on a flat interstate with cruise set. But still just over. Ive also owned several 4 cylinder and v6 awd cars in the past. None got better than my 5.0.

On one 60 mile round trip in a flat piedmont area I got 28 mpg. There are a ton of things I don't care for about my 21. But mileage is definitely the one area it stands out for me.

31 mph average including the idle time, so 21 mpg isn't surprising.

Was on a 55-60 mph road the entire time. The couple hours idling drives the 31 average. I'm also hauling 500lbs plus 5 people (and a 150lb or so brush guard and maybe 75 lb sliding tonneau) . I've not ran under 55 for any period of time. Even now after sitting in the truck several hours idling while they shopped and picking up 10 bags of feed (which are now 40lb rather than 50) and gaining 3k feet in altitude over the last miles im sitting on 21 mpg. Some was in town and slow but both the roads I've traveled were 55 and 65 MPH roads. And I assure you I'm not easy on my vehicles. I like to hear my MBRP. I'm beginning to think that the hour meter runs any time the acc is on too and not just when the engine is running. Because a lot of the time I was just listening to the radio. Ive not been driving almost 5 hours since the first picture

My coastal trips are interstate 40 running 70. Still get well over 22. My Highlander limited gets 19 on the same trip . jeep gets 12 on the same 70 mph interstate trip. My supercrew gets better mileage than my mustangs, our highlander limited, or my 6 cylinder 2 door jeep. (all manual trans but the Toyota) on the same roads same trips sometimes. I know what every vehicle I have gets. I hand figure on that trip many times a year. My 5.0 gets better than my mom's 2wd 93 ranger with a 5 speed and 2.3. EVERY other Ford we own which is several gets crap mileage. From our 2.3 up to our V10. All have got less than they probably should. Lol

I've got crap mileage in every vehicle I've ever owned. I have many that get a fraction of their window stickers. Best my 5 speed 00 impreza RS got on that interstate was 24. Lol. Our 2015 duramax has also got terrible mileage since new. Often getting single digits.

For comparison here is my bone stock jeep Rubicon 2 door 6 speed. 3.8 liter 6 cylinder

and my Toyota highlander limited 3.5 liter over the last 3 tanks. Don't ask me why it forgets past 3. It always has.

I'm not babying my 5.0. I'm actually quite hard on vehicles . Don't forget, I'm the one who started the "how can I actually kill traction control to drift" thread a month ago. Just for once i have a vehicle that gets at least what the window says. Of the 12 or so new vehicles I've bought and of the 7 I have tagged.... that's a first for me. Lol .
